What Happens Next?
The published New Zealand Dance Industry Strategy is the guiding and overarching document for dance industry development.
The five points – connections, spaces, viability, visibility and skill – summarize the work ahead. Each will require focus and long term development.
Wider partnerships, national, regional, public and private, need to be forged in order that some major projects can be developed. Links, support and thinking within and outside the dance industry need to change significantly from the current limited environment.
We are in the process of developing a detailed Action Plan to deliver on these strategies. The Action Plan will identify potential partners, work to be accomplished and short, medium and long term priorities.
As DANZ recognises the dance community's strong desire to be consulted throughout the strategic development process the draft Action Plan will be placed on the DANZ web site for further industry comment by mid-October.
The Action Plan will be a living document, updated biannually as the dance industry, DANZ and partners evaluate progress.
Voices from the Forums will also be available on this site in October. It will provide a snapshot of dance in 2008 through the thoughts of participants in the strategy consultation.
