The Dance Subject Association (DSA) was formed in 2007.The aim is to provide advocacy, communication, professional development, support curriculum work and promote models of good practice.

The DSA committee is a national steering committee of school teachers from across New Zealand and is elected by dance education teachers via the Dance Subject Association meeting at the TRCC conference or other relevant event. The chair is elected by the committee. The 2011 chair is Gaylene Edmonds (Palmerston North)

The regional Dance Educator Networks in Auckland, Wellington, Waikato and Whangarei are an essential part of the Dance Subject Association. These voluntary networks provide professional development workshops supporting curriculum work.

DANZ acts as a conduit for information for the DSA.. All dance educators are welcome to become members of the Dance Subject Association. Membership of DSA is free and open to dance teachers in NZ schools. To Join the Dance Subject Association become a DANZ member.
