The unique Alana Haines Australasian Awards is the largest & most prestigious Australasian event of its kind - providing an international dance forum for artistic development & financial assistance to talented young dancers 11-21yrs. Run by former dancers Katie & Fiona Haines, the event has been held biennially since 1991 both in Wellington & Auckland, commemorating a promising young dancer Alana Haines, tragically killed Xmas Eve 1989 aged 11 yrs old.
Due to generous dance sector sponsorship, the 2007 event allocated $150,000 in sponsored cash & training scholarships to 50 of the 150 contestants. Two exciting new scholarships this year include a Royal Ballet School Scholarship to London A group) & an Apprentice Scholarship with the Royal NZ Ballet Company (B group). All 11 finalists from both Junior Scholars & Supreme Awards sections win valuable awards as do many other promising dancers. Finalists & scholarship winners must advise us of their career progress or scholarship attendance one year after the event & update notable dance accomplishments for future publicity purposes. AHA Awards reserves the right to use photographs & videos of this event for future publicity purposes. Professional DVDs & performance photographs of all contestants will be available for purchase.
All contestants receive complimentary tickets to the
entire event including the cocktail party & are all encouraged to observe
& support other contestant's performances in the audience.
A CD of all set solos will be sent to tutors on receipt
of their first contestant’s entry fee. |
