Title of Institution New Zealand School of Dance
Course Description

The New Zealand School of Dance is a tertiary-level dance training institution. It aims to prepare students to be future leaders and innovators in classical ballet and contemporary dance.

Title of Qualification

1. Two year New Zealand School of Dance Certificate in Dance Performance.
2. Three year New Zealand School of Dance Diploma in Dance Performance.
* Contemporary and classical dance offered.

Duration of Qualification

1. Two years
2. Three years

Dance Pre-requisites

Preference will be given to students who have attained NCEA Level 2 (Yr 12, NZ or Yr 11, Australia) and who have reached a level in classical ballet equivalent to RAD Advanced 1 (IDTA Advanced level 1, BBO Advanced 1, Cecchetti Advanced 1, BAL Intermediate).

Classical Applicants: minimum age 16 years upon entry, maximum age 19 years on enrolment.

Contemporary Applicants: minimum age 16 years upon entry, maximum age 20 years on enrolment

 

The panel will be looking for qualities such as commitment, aptitude for dance, performance qualities, potential for training, achievements to date, creativity.

Age at Entry

Age 16 and over.

Auditions are held in both New Zealand and Australia. Application documents are available from the NZSD website.
