Welcome to DANZ Quarterly - our new-look national dance magazine, complete with a new name, new design and a wide range of features, reviews and news from around the country. We hope you will be as excited as the team that has worked hard to create an accessible and lively magazine.
Our aim is to profile the breadth and depth of dance, to explore its many voices, and to celebrate its growth.
A quick turn of the pages reveals an articulate and healthy art form that is gaining in confidence. There are many reasons for this but a significant element must be the networks that provide us with current and relevant information. This gives visibility and recognition to dance and dancers alike. In addition, we have reached a critical mass, no longer carrying a sense of isolation in our creative endeavours.
Equally important is the discovery that we are great communicators - with an ability to use words to explain the magic of movement.
I hope you will find much to interest you in this - and future issues.
And remember, we are always looking for contributors from every part of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
